The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team stomped Little River Academy 4-0 Jan. 31 in the Mustangs’ final match before starting District 26-4A play.

Marble Falls (7-4-1) led 1-0 at the half and scored 3 goals in the final 15 minutes of the game.

Estaban Dominguez scored 3 goals and Daniel Dominguez scored the fourth goal.

“We possessed the ball the whole game,” head coach Ryan Craven said. “We probably had 30 shots on goal. It was 1-0 most of the game.”

At the intermission, Craven told his players to be more selective on their shot attempts.

He also credited the Bumblebees for keeping the match close.

“They played one of their better games,” Craven said. “We had guys step up. Credit them. We have to finish better.”

Twelve Mustangs didn’t suit up because of illness and other ailments. So Craven pulled up some junior varsity players to ensure the varsity had enough available athletes.

Marble Falls welcomes Wimberley Friday, Feb. 7, to start district play. Junior varsity A plays at 5:30 and varsity takes the field at 7:15 p.m. Junior varsity B welcomes Austin LBJ at 4:30 p.m. before Wimberley faces the Mustangs

The Mustangs beat the Texans 7-1 in first round of the 2024 playoffs and 2023 playoffs.

“They’re a good program,” Craven said. “Historically, they play tough teams. They’re well coached, and we have to get ready. We hope to get guys back.”
